Welcome

Welcome to Gabrielle Cormier Counselling Centre! I am Gabrielle and I am glad you are here. A bit about me; I am a daughter, sister, wife, step-mother, and friend. I am a trauma-informed individual therapist and couples therapist. I enjoy working with clients towards healing.

The first time I thought about being a therapist, I was 16 years old, and reading a novel about a trauma psychologist. I remember thinking to myself – I want to do that. I want to help people come to a place of healing and wholeness. I want to help them live fulfilled lives again.

This is what we are all about at the Gabrielle Cormier Counselling Centre. We believe there is the hope after trauma.

Meet the Team

  • Licensed Counselling Therapist-Candidate

"My name is Marquelle. I believe that each person holds a story that is uniquely and beautifully theirs, a lifetime filled with moments of undeniable joy and unavoidable heartache. Just as each person's story is unique, I believe that all therapy should be uniquely tailored to the individual. I utilize a person-centered approach, focusing on what you hope to gain from the therapeutic journey, and view all things through a compassionate and strength-based lens. From the safety found within sessions and the power of being heard, I believe that solutions can be found and change can occur. I'd love to bear the heaviness with you, wade into the overwhelm, and try to make sense of all the murkiness around you to see hope. It may seem hidden right now, but I'd love to walk alongside you as we search for it again.

  • Student Intern

Hello everyone! I am Michael Pursey, a new intern at the Gabrielle Cormier Counselling Centre.

I am married, and my wife and I have two children together. My background is in education, but during the 13 years I worked as a teacher I came to find that the part of the job I enjoyed the most was those moments where I was able to find a way to have a personal impact on the students I worked with. It is for this reason that I have chosen to go into counselling.

I believe, from my training and from my life experience, that we often function as our own worst enemy. We can let our thoughts get too negative, constantly expect the worst, or discount our own strengths and resiliency. Further, our mental health is impacted by the ways in which we act in the world, and it is all too easy for our behaviors to become harmful rather than helpful. In learning to ensure that our thoughts are healthy, and in examining and discarding or unlearning the behaviors that are holding us back, we can greatly improve our mental health.

As a new counsellor, I would love to be a part of your journey towards a more healthy and productive life!
